PHONETIC SYMPHONY (2021)
Phonetic Symphony is a three fold interactive exhibition that takes its point of departure as a Mandarin “phonetic system” composed of two other differing systems—Bopomofo and Hanyu Pinyin—so as to interpret three key affective elements within Chinese language: syllables, intonations, and hearing, which translate into speech, tones, and listening in human behavior.
Phonetic Symphony perceives sound as the ultimate language in light of its emotional breadth, and sets out to reveal the affective and poetic qualities of Mandarin.
